The treatment

How whitening works

Whitening gel releases oxygen that breaks up stain molecules inside the enamel. It does not remove enamel or damage the tooth when done correctly.

Crowns, veneers and fillings do not change colour, so we check those first and plan around them.

Good to know

  • Best forYellowing from age, tea, coffee and food.
  • Less effective forGrey staining from medicines or injury; we may suggest bonding or veneers.
  • Not duringPregnancy or breastfeeding, or with untreated decay or gum disease.

Questions

Asked by patients, answered plainly.

Something not here? Message us on WhatsApp and a doctor will reply.

Does whitening damage enamel?

No, not when done professionally with the right concentration and timing.

Will my teeth be sensitive?

Some people feel mild sensitivity for a day or two. A desensitising gel helps.

How do I keep the result?

Rinse after tea, coffee or red wine, avoid smoking, and use the home trays for a top-up every few months.
